Denmark Proposes Record Investment in
Space Exploration (Source: Research Professional News)
Independence in space research has become a matter of national
security. The Danish government has announced its largest ever
investment in the national space program—2.7 billion Danish kroner
(€361 million)—over the next four years. The investment is part of a
broader initiative aimed at expanding Denmark’s role in the European
space sector. It is a long-term commitment and an increase from last
year’s funding based on Denmark’s view that space has a growing role in
both research and global geopolitics. (10/27)
‘A Base Not a Race’ (Source:
CNN)
In addition to the flurry of conversations around rushing to cobble
together a lunar lander, another discussion has been percolating — one
that questions whether NASA should be trying to expedite Artemis-3 at
all. Not everyone views simply landing on the moon before China as
essential. The more important goal, they argue, is to pave the way for
a permanent lunar base where astronauts can live and work.
In the public imagination, the new “space race” — as much as it really
is a race — may be won or lost the moment the next astronaut sets foot
on the moon. But perhaps the true winner will be the country that is
able to build lasting infrastructure, experts say. "This is about the
long game and the sustainability.” (11/1)
